How to Run an NFL Pick'em Pool

Everything you need to know to run a successful NFL pick'em pool - from setup to crowning your champion.

Step 1: Choose Your Format

Before inviting anyone, decide on your pool format. The two most popular options are season-long pick'em and survivor.

  • Season-Long Pick'em: Participants pick winners for every game each week. Points accumulate over the 17-week season.
  • Survivor Pool: Pick one team per week. If they lose, you're eliminated. Last one standing wins.

Step 2: Set Up Your Pool

With Prophet Pools, setup takes about 5 minutes and costs nothing up front. You pay 14 days after the first kickoff.

  1. Create an account
  2. Select NFL as your sport
  3. Choose your format (Season-Long or Survivor)
  4. Customize scoring rules if desired
  5. Name your pool

Step 3: Invite Participants

Share a join code in the group chat, or send email invitations if you have addresses. You don't need a full list to get started.

Step 4: Let the Season Begin

Once the NFL season starts, Prophet Pools handles everything.

  • Automatic score updates after each game
  • Real-time leaderboard updates
  • Email reminders before pick deadlines
  • Results notifications when matchdays complete

Step 5: Crown Your Champion

At the end of the season (or when one survivor remains), Prophet Pools determines the winner automatically. Celebrate your champion!
